UPDATE Aug 15:

I was wrong, the below Facebook account is yet another convincing double of the man in the video. The facial differences are debatable due to the difference between indoor and outdoor lighting, but the absence of a mole on his left cheek cinches it. This is not our Dr. Sal, just a very similar looking Italian guy with the same name.

I will take down the images hosted here but leave the links as is. This still demonstrates the huge power of the Internet to generate convincing coincidence. A man living in Italy with the same face (minus mole) and the same name is a more convincing match than a Puerto Rican terrible actor/dentist with the same face (minus mole and sockets) with a different name.

This is a critical update.

Reddit (along with pretty much everybody) has concluded that Dr. Salvatore Conti’s warning is a fake because his face looks similar to actor Frank Vidal’s when viewed head-on.

This position is no longer tenable.

Conti has a Facebook page open to the public, with copious photos and conversations. The join date is January 21, 2009

The man in the pictures is clearly the same as the man in the video.

Browse his profile, look at his children, observe conversations in Italian with his friends.

I will have much more on this tomorrow. I only hope that what I’ve already written isn’t overtaken by events.

I don’t know why this would sway anyone who still doesn’t believe, but Conti has deep eye sockets and Vidal has shallow ones.

Also, seriously people, Vidal is the world’s worst actor, and Conti would have to be the best, if he were acting. Vidal just sits there 90% of the time, and when he does gesture it’s either stifled as all hell, or there’s a deliberate pause and then some exaggerated pre-planned emote. He completely sucks and I’m so glad this Facebook page was found so I don’t have to analyze his microtells. Although I may still have to at this rate. Sweet Nibiru some of you deserve to fry.

Except that Salvador Conti is not Dr. Sal.

The nose is clearly different. Look at how Conti’s central bit extends downwards and he has a rounded smooth nose-bulb (I’m not a noseologist so bad terms). This is visible in both his large and mini-pic. Now observe the Dr. Sal video, the base is flat and it has a central crease, and it’s slightly off to the right aswell. They are clearly completely different people!! If you look at the slope of Conti’s nose Vs the indentation of Dr. Sal ;sigh; Come ON, Koanic. It’s fucking Frank Vidal. I’m afraid that how easily you got suckered by this has damaged the credibility of your other (more consistent) stuff.

You are making a very common mistake: taking two pictures of dissimilarities and declaring them “clearly” to be different people. As I mentioned. I can do this with a famous twin (one of the Olsons, for example) and point out all the differences between pictures of the same person and say “clearly, we are dealing with Mary Kate and Ashley here.” I could do the same thing that you did with a picture of Jonah Hill and a screen cap from an interview and show how his nose is different. Facial profiling and matching from photographs is very difficult. I’m not saying you are wrong about your suspicion, just deceptive to offer these photos as proof, not supplemental evidence. A ratio mask, at the very least, is required. I’m shocked no one has attempted to construct one yet. But as I said above, it is remarkable how quickly the fringe wanted to reject this one before being ridiculed as gullible. A little photo speculation and “poof” everyone is convinced and moving on…

They do far more than that. Indoor lighting is more single source, while sunlight is more diffuse. Thus you see more curvature, whereas the shadow starts abruptly indoors.

I am in disbelief. You think Frank Vidal = Sal Conte in the video, but that Sal Conte on the Facebook page is someone else entirely? So Frank Vidal found the Facebook page and disguised himself as that guy? Truly the human capacity for error is endless.

Daniel is absolutely right, cameras and lighting play tricks with shadows and depth perception, which is why I rely on profile shots to make my head and socket shape diagnoses. At different angles you can have completely different-looking people. It takes a bit of experience to get used to this camera bias.

So once again, just like with body language, we have the theorists vs. those who’ve tested themselves repeatedly in real situations. This is getting old.

I really hope you’re not talking about me when you mention theorist. Have you ever actually gone out in public and read people, whether in pickup, business, or other areas of your personal life? If you have then good, you are one of the few, but don’t get all smug thinking you’re the only one who knows how to read people. I profile people on an almost daily basis.

Also, socket depth changes with age. It’s no more reliable as a stand-alone measurement than profiling eye movements.

There could be a hundred doubles, because, again, photographs are useful, but limited in their utility. The video and voice comparison of Vidal to Dr. Sal were useful – but mostly to cause me to suspect that they weren’t the same guy, but again, I’m not ruling anything out. I am not objective: my initial dream reaction was that the guy was a hoaxer, and only because Koanic insisted he was telling the truth did I consider that he might be akin to a genuine believing abductee (whether or not the contact was with aliens, spirits or psychological tricks). In cases like this, I then tend to set out the possibility buckets and let them fill up.
Nightwatchstate has done a good job of presenting Vidal evidence, which, if true, begs the question of Vidal’s motives, but not yet enough to tip the Vidal bucket for me to proof. The FB Conti didn’t look right to me either. I have nothing to contribute by way of evidence one way or another, but I’m not ready to bet on a bucket just yet. A lot of hoaxes are done for stupid reasons, but this event is, simply put, odd – so “easily” discredited, with passion. Not even the more obvious Montauk hoax closed the book so quickly. If it is a hoax, I wonder if it is for an independent movie. That would explain a lot to me.

No, I think he’s saying that the facebook page points to someone other than in the Dr. Sal video. I disagree with that easy dismissal. One of the pictures on the facebook page has a very similar shot as to the video, and matches far better than the Frank Vidal pictures do. But I don’t think Nightwatchstate is suggesting that the Facebook page is fraudulent.

The Frank Vidal thing makes no sense: all the Vidal photos show is a similar looking cro-magnon type: unifiedserenity’s photos are appreciated, but in no way convincing. I could post any number of photos of bald (except not bald, apparently) middle aged men and tell you they were the same guy. Superficially, it would seem true.

That just seems like a vapor trail, conveniently provided by the infallible internet self-censoring truth police. It is very difficult to “prove” that two photos of the same person are, in fact, the same person.

For example, I could give you two links to separate photos of Ashley Olson and have you convinced that one was Mary Kate (or vice versa). Vidal doesn’t even look like “Dr. Sal’s” twin.

I also think that it is fairly obvious that Dr. Sal is telling the truth as he understands it. I haven’t studied liars and honest men like you have, Koanic, but I agree that his belief is apparent. Very good actors (Paul Giamatti, for example) could pull this off, however, so I’m not ruling out a great actor. But that seems less likely than a genuine guy talking about what he knows.

Now, I think that Dr. Sal’s understanding of the situation is flawed, but his information is relevant even if he’s wrong about what it really means.

The only way this is not relevant is if Dr. Sal is an actor (someone other than Frank Vidal – as I said, photos can be misread a lot of ways, but there are way too many substantive differences between the Vidal photos and the Sal photos for me to swallow the shoddy “totally convincing proof it is a hoax.”) or if Dr. Sal was spoofed by his mates at NASA over the period of a decade or whatever for some bizarre government counteroperation. In either of those cases, the information is obviously useless.

In any other case I can conceive of, the information is relevant (again, even his interpretation is wrong, which I think it is).

Too bad we don’t have video of the ALFies, to determine if they might have been lying to him…

Your missing the consistent details like the deformity of the left nostril, mole on right hand cheek and size of the outer conch on the inner ear. It’s the same fucking guy, just fast forward 20 years or whatever. Besides, the acting *Isn’t* that good. It had me going for quite some time until I watched it without sound, and the level of melodrama and overacting became apparent. Koan and you are both cases of wanting to be in on THE TRUTH bad enough to overlook that the obvious answer in this case is the correct one. Lack of humility.. to be expected from an MT I guess.

I’m withholding judgment – I’m perfectly fine if an actor other than Frank Vidal steps forward or is otherwise incriminated as perpetrating it. I just don’t see the Frank Vidal – Dr. Sal thing at all. I also didn’t say that the facebook page proves that Dr. Sal and the facebook Sal are the same guy: only that fb Sal has more in common with Dr. Sal than Frank Vidal has with Dr. Sal. Not obvious to me. A lot of self-proclaimed abductees drop that sort of proclamation – it is one of the more common traits. It doesn’t indicate acting, but sincerity. The sort of disjointed, weird, (sometimes seemingly) pompous proclamations found in abduction reports are certainly not universal indicators of hoax. You simply haven’t presented enough evidence to prove a hoax. You’ve got a good start, though. I just hope that you don’t fail to complete your investigation by a premature and definitive proclamation.

I’ll give you an example: I met a guy who was convinced and sincere about a close encounter. I had a fairly good sense that he’d had a bad trip on weed, because that’s what he’d been smoking at the time, in a room with a few other people! He admitted that, but, for at least until I lost touch with him (years later) was convinced that it was a real experience. So, either through drugs or drug-caused brain damage, he probably had an “encounter.” One of the things the “aliens” taught him were a bunch of semi-related platitudes, not unlike “destiny is an esoteric…” etc. Not those words exactly, but pretty much. The guy wasn’t a hoaxer – just a convinced pot-head. I guess that’s really my point – as much as I’d like to separate Dr. Sal into one of the buckets, I just don’t have enough to do so yet, and I think that getting into the habit of oversynthesizing the evidence too quickly, we can miss important details. For what it is worth, it matters to me that I know whether this was just a hoax or if it is genuine, but it doesn’t matter to me which one it is. I just don’t want to jump the gun and in so doing, miscategorize the event.

Dr. Sal uses the phrase “Destiny is an esoteric turd.” The only google match is the tweet from Frank Vidal. Dr. Sal being a dead ringer I could buy, but the two using the same phrase is the clincher. The Postdated Google Spam is the cache of the tweet before he locked his account (It was open yesterday with many more tweets than two).

It’s fucking Frank Vidal. Obvious I can’t convince you because you are you and I am I, but I have studied the head distinctions enough to see they’re the same person. This “Conti has deep eye sockets while Vidal has shallow ones” is called *aging.* Look at the shape of the ear cartilige and cheekbones.

The authority Koan credits this guy with really angers me. Koan has said a lot of things I’ve taken to heart on the subject of thals, melons etc, and often when he makes an observation it’s directly relevant to my experience (I’m TT); so this video really threw me off for a few days. Luckily, I have experience in details of facial recognition to be able to know as plain truth that Frank Vidal is Dr. Sal; but in the meantime, all the time this drags on it’s a sore point.

In Short:

The facebook page koan presents is not the same person (nose shape).
Frank Vidal shown to be Dr. Sal by shape of ear cartilage, mole on left cheek in same place when not covered by theatre paint, slightly rightwards pointed nose due to past break, slightly smaller left nostril, identical skull, eye socket and chin shape. Dr. Sal is clearly a lot more jowley and has slightly sunken eyes with age, but it’s the same guy.

Dr. Sal uses the phrase “Destiny is an esoteric turd”, something tweeted by Frank Vidal before the account got locked out. I have the google cache screencapped. Frank used it as breadcrumb to lead to his twitter, probably intentionally. “Destiny is an esoteric turd” is not a casual phrase and had to be rehearsed, ditto “Hollywood made a pretentious attempt at a colloqualism.”

Although Koan has immense powers of concentration and has scripted his movements very accurately, he didn’t notice that they were so sincere as to be melodramatically so. Like I said I was drawn into it for a few days – Then I watched it with Frank on mute and it becomes high drama.

Frankly (hur hur) this video being taken seriously is an ugly stain on this sites (and Koan’s) character and authority. I’m hoping it gets filed for retroactive quality control deletion.

It’s a quote from a play, not a phrase unique to Frank Vidal. I agree it is one of the points in your favor. You have no video or photo of Frank Vidal’s mole; at most a “shadow” with contrast turned up that is supposedly the mole covered in makeup. Eyes do not sink with age; they get puffier as flesh slides down into the socket.

That tweet is very good evidence in your favor, but you are totally being a dickish witch-hunter by questioning this sites’ “character and authority” just because Koanic is (in your opinion) doing you the great disservice of being gullible (as you were) for too long. Even if you are right about Vidal (and I still don’t see it from that picture – no more convincing to me than the fb guy to, again, my untrained eye), being an esoteric turd about it doesn’t do your case any favors, especially to guys like me, who’s been (and still is) a “jury’s still out” person. I’m glad that my intuition about the language was also right. Vidal has the same hispanic accent in both his “Sal” character and his other characters. The real Sal is Italian.

…so its not the laughably implausible ET contact, but a laughably implausible NSA “test” using a Houston dentist. mmkay. This is exactly why I’m not going to lay any cards down aside from my preliminary bias until better info comes along. I’ll believe FTL comms before I believe the government can cast a plausible actor in order to…what? Figure out that the internet can sniff out a hoax in a day or two? That’s not NSA data: more than likely a student project.

Oh, and as far as people suggesting that Dr. Sal’s “science is bad” as proof of a hoax, that’s ridiculous. A good hoax would have included plausible ET communications, not supernatural one. That’s one of the things that honestly bothers Dr. Sal: that it makes no sense to his engineering mind – he basically admits to knowing hardly anything about the anomalies regarding their transdimensional communications. Not as a rule, but in general, good hoaxes (like, say, the Cardiff Giant or Balloon Boy or the Book of Abraham. the Cottingly Faeries, Alien Autopsy, Piltdown, Feejee Mermaid, etc.) have explanatory stuff to go along with the obvious questions. In fact, one of the best parts of good hoaxes is the “math” behind it – this guy shrugs his shoulders: this doesn’t make his story more compelling as a story – it is hard to condense it into anything but a seemingly obvious fairy tale. It could, of course, be a bad, poorly executed hoax, but that doesn’t account for the believability and sincerity of the poor guy’s experience. I’ve seen bad hoaxes (alien autopsy springs to mind) – and almost all of them have bad actors (the good ones are getting paid for legitimate work, and don’t want to get a bad rep with casting agencies) perpetrating them with the occasional dupe sprinkled in (think Roger and Me). Dr. Sal is either not an actor or else a very fine one. That’s a very esoteric hoax to perpetrate one that is simultaneously believable and instantly dismissable. In other words: as hoaxes go, it certainly is an anomaly!

Well put Daniel. The only point I would disagree with is that it is actually not possible that Conti is acting, but only someone who’s studied body language would know that. He shows full subconscious recruitment, engagement, and congruent timing, in a way that is impossible for human liars to replicate. We simply don’t have that degree of fine control over our bodies or subconscious emotions.

I agree with KoanicSoul that the whole “Frank Vidal theory” is false and he is not at all the same man as “Dr. Sal”. I am a professional manager of actors and must say that KoanicSoul said it best about the “performance” differences between Frank Vidal and Dr. Sal (see just above this comments section for that quote). Their styles are completely different.

However, I don’t think that the Salvatore Conti on facebook is the same person as “Dr. Sal” either. It is a great similarity but there are some marked differences in the appearances plus he is a resident of Italy, and not Houston TX.

Nonetheless, the facebook page is an important discovery because it shows just how possible it is to find a very similar “double”. This should really make people pause and think about their “Frank Vidal Theory”… in other words, just because two men look so much alike does not make them the same person.

In Houston, the same city that Dr. Frank Vidal a dentist and part time bad actor. Not only does he not work for NASA and never has. He is a partner in CGJ Engineer, a company that focuses on construction, and has done so since 1981. Anyone with a search engine can find that out.
